01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Located on Rudeška cesta in the heart of Zagreb, Chicha's Grill is a fast food gem that delivers an authentic Balkan grilling experience with a modern twist. Specializing in 100% domaća junetina (local Croatian beef), this cozy spot offers a menu that satisfies carnivores craving rich, smoky flavors and hearty portions.

At Chicha's Grill, the star dishes include the Veliki Ćevapi—nine perfectly seasoned, juicy beef sausages served traditionally with soft, freshly baked lepinja bread. Their Hamburger and Čičin burgerq (200g of succulent local beef) are praised for their meaty texture and perfectly balanced buns that never fall apart. If you’re looking for something a bit more indulgent, try the Šiš Ćevapi, skewered and grilled to smoky perfection, offering an elevated take on a beloved Balkan classic.

The atmosphere here can be described as a cool, no-frills "hole in the wall" that’s beloved by locals and travelers alike for its genuine charm and relaxed vibe. It’s a place where the focus is undividedly on the food—flavors that are straightforward, bold, and comforting. The grilled meat is bursting with smoky aroma, complemented by freshly chopped onions and a side of traditional lepinja bread, which some guests suggest could use a touch more buttery richness.

One of the highlights of Chicha's Grill is its surprising selection of bottled local craft beers, perfectly suited to accompany the hearty meat dishes. As customer Vatroslav Bank puts it, the combination of well-grilled Balkan-style meat and craft beer makes for a satisfying culinary experience that feels both authentic and refreshing. Many visitors, like Davor Labaš Cetinski, recognize it as a “must-visit” for anyone seeking great taste at an excellent price point.

Customer feedback also highlights how the burgers here are crafted with care — the buns maintain their integrity without crumbling, and the meat packs a flavorful punch every time. Enthusiast Mario Marković’s repeated visits for the “čizburger” and “Čiča birger” are a true testament to the consistent quality. Meanwhile, Mario Kamenjak confidently states that Chicha’s Grill outshines other local competitors like Batak Grill, emphasizing its superior taste and convenient location.

In conclusion, if you find yourself in Zagreb craving fast food that’s anything but ordinary, Chicha’s Grill is an inviting spot where you can indulge in perfectly grilled beef creations paired with local flavors in a laid-back environment. The passion for quality ingredients and authentic preparation shines through every dish, leaving a lasting impression that beckons you back for more.

I tried ćevapi here. The meat is good, lepinja could probably be a bit more oily and grilled. But you only get 9 ćevapi (180 grams) in a large portion! Also, they could give some more onions.

A street food kiosk in the Rudeš neighborhood, three tables outside, mostly takeout. Very friendly owner, amusing local customers. Ćevapčići, lepinja and onions all wonderful! Very good selection of local craft beer, the owner is a beer enthusiast and even has bottles from very small breweries outside of Zagreb.
